Great location overall: you're north of Kaanapali and south of Kapalua, so you're not overwhelmed by tourists
Great location overall: you're north of Kaanapali and south of Kapalua, so you're not overwhelmed by tourists. Neighborhood has a real local feel. There's a supermarket right near by as well as some great lowkey restaurants and shave ice shacks. But you're still super close to all the action. Kapalua is a 5 minute drive and Kaanapali is 10 minutes.
Condo is on the ocean. You can look down from the grass and see sea turtles swimming in water. Place definitely gets hammered by salty air and wind, so there's some rust and other stuff (sticky screen door upstairs), but overall it's in good condition. AC works well and kitchen has everything you need.
You've got access to a nice-sized pool and a few different BBQ grills. Very convenient for families who want to escape the resort experience for something more chill.
Host is very communicative and helpful. Don't hesitate to reach out.
Bottom line: we'd definitely stay here again.

We absolutely loved staying here. We came with our two toddlers and they loved it as well. My family and I will be coming back to this location. Host was quick to reply with my questions and felt right at home. Hard to leave vacation when you feel great staying there. Thank you again! The view was the absolute best part.

We have stayed at Kahana Sunset multiple times over the years
We have stayed at Kahana Sunset multiple times over the years. It is the most peaceful amazing place with the best groundskeepers. We loved our stay in A9. The hosts were super communicative and responsive.

We loved it. You will never stay closer to the water anywhere else. We were steps from the water and had amazing views from upper and lower floors. There were whales every day and you can watch them from the condo. Lots of space! Walkable to anything you need.

The views from the lanais were incredible. The unit is well stocked with thoughtful details, like extra towel
bars in the bathrooms, cold AC units, beautiful artwork, lots of pots and pans and cooking accessories (smoothie blender, rice cooker, etc.), and power strips on both sides of the beds. Service from Surf Shack Properties was also great!
The pool was great, parking easy, and close to a market and shopping center.
Negative:
It’s a bit dated, but it’s just cosmetic and exactly like the photos show. It’s a bit challenging to have any more than 2 people in the kitchen at once.
The complex has beach access, but even at low tide there isn’t much “beach” available. We did visit during a high surf advisory, so perhaps it’s more accessible at other times of the year.
The view is awesome
The view is awesome. There are no obstructions from the patio to see the whales jumping. Our host was easy to communicate with and they made us feel right at home.

Had a wonderful stay with Surf Shack Properties. The unit was exactly as described and contained everything my family needed. The location was stunning and we spent many hours watching whales and turtles from the 2 large lanais. We loved opening the windows and utilizing the ocean breeze and listening to the waves crashing while falling asleep. In addition, I was worried about bugs because of a previous review, but I am happy to report we didn’t encounter one critter inside the unit the whole week we were there. nSurf Shack Properties was responsive and friendly, I had reached out for one issue (not the fault of the company or owner) and they had a remedy within the hour. Great customer service! I would not hesitate to book with Surf Shack properties and I will look for properties run by them in the future.
